Ode to movies!
Once I got over the talking beavers, Narnia was great! Maybe even more fun since I heard commentary from Jane, John, and MaryD, and a little Kenzie throughout the movie. My favorite line comes at the end (about Aslan) - "He's not tame, but he's good".
To follow that, The Lord of the Rings I & II was on television tonight. Can't get a better trilogy! Epic movies are my favorite. Sam's words at the end tell why-
Frodo: I can't do this Sam.
Sam: I know. It's all wrong. By rights we shouldn't even be here. But we are. It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something.
Frodo: What are we holding on to Sam?
Sam: That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo... and it's worth fighting for.
Little hobbits are pretty wise. I'll be watching Return of the King sometime this week.
Friends, church, movies... no low for the day. High was finding out MaryDevan & Adam have the same spring break in March!! which means we may have the best return ski trip ever. Curt is going to take a picture of my lucky run while he's skiing this week at The Canyons. with a helmet. (he ski's like I do!)
My Dad is into posting ancient pictures of our family. He's kindly sent several for my screening, which I kindly reply No Way! His fu-man-chu and afro days are for your viewing pleasure. Watch out... love my Stevens family!
