happy friday!

I haven't had time to post pictures & update what a fun time I had in Memphis last weekend at MaryD & John's Luau party! Stay tuned... I've got cute pics to share of the very serious and strait-faced Felkins! Seeing my friends in Memphis was wonderful- miss them!!

Monday night Ms Jan took me out, both dinner & The Muny - fabulous! We both really liked Aieta, and the cool weather outside was perfect. I forgot how fun The Muny can be! I don't know what I've been doing the rest of the week, but enough that I feel b-u-s-y...

Today at work was no exception. I asked for a variety of patients, and I got them! This morning included my first time visit to the "high security" psych ward. Rubber rooms, paper gowns, and double locked doors sure make you feel safe! At least that drama was followed up by a feeding evaluation in the special care nursury with a 35 wk old girl that looks just like my childhood babydoll! I am loving the babies, and recently have been in the nursury about once a week. For my last patient, I headed up to the colorectal floor... thinking hmmm, whats up for me here? Ever heard of colobronchial fistula? Neither had I. (warning: gross story ahead) A "fistula" is basically an abnormal passage/connection between two places in the body. Take the colon, and you know whats in that; And then the bronchus, or windpipe to the lungs; and through an unusual circumstance, this patient developed a fistula between his colon and his windpipe- quickly discovered by the nurse when this guy was coughing out colon content from his trach. I kid you not! I didn't even know that could happen. This guy surprisingly passed his swallow test, his potty mouth has been corrected, and I got to meet his very hotty colorectal resident, aka poop doctor. In the end, referral very appreciated, and I wonder if this doc has any more patients for me?!

I am so sorry that you had to deal with all of that! GROSS! I saw something like that on HOUSE a few weeks back, but I thought, "NO WAY is that possible!" I stand corrected. YUCK!

I am glad that you are enjoying your new job and life back in St. Louis. Any bids on the house yet?

Yeah, pretty crappy diagnosis I must day. (!) If this happens to be your anonymous father, brother, cousin, neighbor- what a really nice guy he was!

No movement on my house recently, its still begging for someone to buy it...

Nice story, Hannah! At least the silver lining is the hot "poop" doctor, right?
It was great seeing you this weekend and THANK YOU for all of your help. Wish I could have chatted it up with you more, not enough time, friend... however, there is MD's wedding! Can't wait
