backup, "1st blog"
as I've been told, I skipped the official "first blog" entry. so sorry! Guess I missed the page on blog ettiquette. I will try to be better! Just thought since I've been guilty of blog reading and entertainment for the past few months, I'll justify it by joining the blogspot family myself. Plus its been fun keeping up with friends and family this way. Nothing too personal, b/c it is weird other people you don't know can be reading your blog. ok i'm guilty. However highlights, pictures, random banter- I can do that. (speaking of banter- Girlmore Girls tonight, yes!) I'm terrible at every other form of consistent communication, so why not try this? Here's to happy blogging. Now thats out of the way... (LJ!)

Today I ran across a great quote I've been thinking about. Goes like this- "Life is 10 percent what happens to me and 90 percent how I react to it". (Lou Holtz, Notre Dame football coach. no idea who he is- but) I really should rework my percentages. My family jokes around about temperments- We have 2 pessimists and 3 optimists. I'm a prideful "O" given most situations. However I've got a ways to grow before I fit into the 10/90 quote! Always more work to do...

Found out today I have a 15K to run on Sunday. yeah? It won't be pretty, but I'm running in place of a good running friend at work who discovered major health problems today. Hopefully that will give me motivation and determination to do well. It's been months since I ran 10 miles, so cross my fingers it will be a good day. I'm most nervous about the 7:30 AM start time. Mom/Dad, wake up call please. Guess its good prep for the St. Jude half-marathon coming up, oh wait- less than a month. Well- good time to start training! Off to practice now...

Are you up to running that far so soon after surgery? Slow down girl! Don't hurt yourself.
Good for you Hannah- I think that it is great that you are feeling well enough already to run that far already! I wish that I was up for running already. Wait, who am I kidding? I wish I was up to walking further than 50 feet without being tired!
Good luck, and have fun on your run!
Hello Hannah,
I just ran across your blog and thought you might be interested to know that Lou Holtz was head coach at South Carolina (1998-2004), Notre Dame (1986-1996), Minnesota (1984-85), Arkansas (1977-83), North Carolina State (1972-75) and William & Mary (1969-71). He spent the 1976 season as head coach of the NFL's New York Jets.
He has had his share of memorable quotes. A few more of his quotes:
A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song.
If you're bored with life - you don't get up every morning with a burning desire to do things - you don't have enough goals.
It's not the load that breaks you down, it's the way you carry it.
No one has ever drowned in sweat.
The man who complains about the way the ball bounces is likely the one who dropped it.
It is great that you are doing so well. I hope that God continues to bless you.
Awesome quotes! I'm now a Lou Holtz fan.. thanks Keith.
